Napoli’s president Aurelio De Laurentiis has said that very few clubs can offer striker Edinson Cavani the atmosphere to thrive like his current club can according to Goal.com.

The striker has been linked with a move away from Napoli this summer, with Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester City all thought to be in the running for the Uruguayans signature.

However, De Laurentiis believes that the Uruguayan will struggle to move to another club as Napoli are the only club that can give him the surroundings that will enable him to reach his full potential.

“Napoli is a true cradle for Cavani, allowing his inner child to express himself and fulfill his potential,” De Laurentiis said at a press conference.

“He knows that he is the star of the show here at Napoli and you never know whether this will also be the case at Real Madrid or anywhere else”.

De Laurentiis reiterated the clubs stance on Cavani yesterday by saying that interested clubs will have to pay £53 million for the striker, which will then activate the Uruguayan’s release clause.

He also said that Manchester City appear to be out of the race because they are unable to pay Cavani’s asking price, meaning just Real Madrid and Chelsea are in the running for the striker.

Real Madrid appear to be stepping up their interest in Cavani and look the most likely to pay the Uruguayan’s asking price.
