Agent of Swiss star denies talk of summer exit. The agent of Napoli midfielder Gokhan Inler has denied rumours that his client could be set for a summer exit from the club, according to Football Italia.

The 28-year-old has been an influential performer for the Serie A runners-up, and was said to be a transfer target for big-spending Turkish giants Galatasaray in this transfer window.

The Swiss international has also previously been linked with moves to the Premier League with the likes of Arsenal, Tottenham and Liverpool, though his agent has said he is happy to remain in Naples and work under the club’s new manager Rafael Benitez.

The Spaniard has just taken over at Napoli, having worked as interim manager at Chelsea for much of the 2012/13 season. The news of Inler’s desire to stay will be good news for him as he already faces the prospect of losing star striker Edinson Cavani to one of Europe’s bigger clubs.

Benitez had been targeting moves for the likes of Javier Mascherano and Lucas Leiva, perhaps in preparation of Inler’s exit, though he may now be able to drop his interest as this key player looks set to snub offers to move away.

His agent is quoted as saying: “Gokhan is happy in Naples, even more so now because the President is planning to carry on ahead with this great project.

“Gokhan has already spoken with new Coach Rafael Benitez who has said he wants to focus on him.

“Both myself and the player have a great relationship with President Aurelio De Laurentiis, so there’s really no reason to think about leaving Napoli.”
