Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes his reiterated his desire to stay at the club for one more season and then leave on a free transfer when his contract expires, Sky Sports reports.

The goalkeeper said last month that he wanted to stay at the club following speculation linking him with a move away from Barcelona this summer.

Arsenal, Liverpool and Monaco have all been linked with a move to sign the Spanish goalkeeper despite his intention to stay at the club for this season.

With speculation surrounding Valdes future, Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Reina has been named as a possible replacement for Valdes at the Nou Camp.

This speculation increased with the news that Liverpool are set to sign Sunderland goalkeeper Simon Mignolet and reports suggest that Brendan Rodgers will be using Mignolet as his number one next season.

Despite the rumours surrounding his future, Valdes wants to remain at the Nou Camp for next season.

“I consider that my cycle as a Barcelona player will come to an end when my contract expires in 2014,” said Valdes in an interview.

“I understand that with more than 12 months’ warning there should be sufficient time to find the best solution for the club and for the player, so that Barca keep on winning and so do I.”

The rumours will continue despite Valdes comments and Pepe Reina would certainly be interested in a move back to the club where he started his playing career.
