Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo is set for talks with Man United over a surprise move back to Old Trafford according to the Daily Mail.

The 28 year old is due to meet Old Trafford officials in three days time in talks that the La Liga giants have sanctioned, seemingly a sign that the La Liga side are ready to consider offers for the 28 year old.

Ronaldo took to Twitter to refute speculation that he was set to sign a new Real Madrid deal, a move that would no doubt have angered Real Madrid and may well have led to re-elected president Florentino Perez accepting defeat in the club’s push to get the Portuguese international captain tied down to a new long term contract.

Cristiano Ronaldo has just two years to run on his current deal which effectively means that Real Madrid’s hopes of making a sizeable sum from his sales would mean that offers would be considered this summer.

Real Madrid will be looking to recoup most of the £80m they forked out for Ronaldo four years ago, knowing that the player’s value could only have increased following a stunningly successful spell at the Bernabeu, during which time he has scored a phenomenal 201 goals in four seasons.

David Moyes could well be keen on bringing in a big name signing and Man United will be looking to pull off some sort of statement of intent following the retirement of Sir Alex Ferguson and a move to bring back Ronaldo would more than fit the bill.
