European Champions Bayern Munich are ready to make a sensational bid for Manchester City’s Micah Richards according to The Daily Star.

The German giants are reportedly keen to strengthen their backline and have identified the England defender as the man for the job.

New Bayern boss Pep Guardiola is reportedly ready to make Richards one of his first signings at the club and is preparing a £14 million.

Richards is thought to be open to a move as he has not enjoyed much luck in recent seasons at the Etihad Stadium.

The player has suffered from injuries of late and was often overlooked by previous boss Roberto Mancini in favour of the versatile Argentine Pablo Zabaleta.

Richards has two years remaining on his current contract at City but club officials are reportedly feeling that they are unlikely to offer him a new deal.

That could tempt the club into selling Richards while he still has market value rather than losing him for a reduced price, or for nothing, in the future.

The club now they already have cover in Richards’ position following the acquisition last summer of Brazilian full-back Maicon.

Inter Milan have also been linked with Richards but it is thought the defender would prefer a move to the European Champions.
