AC Milan & Fiorentina Deny Striker Swap Deal

No deal to swap Jovetic and El Shaarawy say clubs.

Both AC Milan and Fiorentina have moved to deny that there is a deal in place between the two to swap strikers Stevan Jovetic and Stephan El Shaarawy, Sky Sports reports.

Both players have been the subject of heavy speculation this summer with clubs both in Italy and England linked with their signatures, however, reports had suggested that the two were set to bypass enquiries from elsewhere to deal with each other.

But Milan chief Adriano Galliani has moved to deny the rumours by telling the Italian press: “It is absolutely not true. We met in a restaurant and we spoke about other things, there isn’t a negotiation for an exchange.”

It is a sentiment echoed by Fiorentina’s sporting director Daniele Prade.

“This is an invention of the press about the news referring to an exchange between El Shaarawy and Jovetic,” he said.

“It’s true I met Galliani in a restaurant, but we have absolutely not spoken about exchanges, so these things are groundless.”

Jovetic had been thought to be on his way to Arsenal earlier in the summer, but Manchester City have also been credited with an interest, though in recent weeks talk of a move for the Premier League has cooled.
