Arsenal Defensive Target Has Serie A Offers

Croatian defender also wanted by Italian duo.

Arsenal’s bid to sign young Croatian defender Tin Jedvaj could be hijacked by AC Milan and Roma, according to the Metro.

The 17-year-old has enjoyed a breakthrough season in Dinamo Zagreb’s first team this season, and his form has not gone unnoticed by Europe’s top clubs, though he will likely command an asking price of over £5million.

His agent has gone on record as saying there is interest from Arsenal and AC Milan, and a bid from Roma has already been rejected by Zagreb.

“Roma offered £5million for Tin, but that was rejected,” his representative said. “Milan and Arsenal are both interested though, we expect to hear more from them.”

It is unclear how much Arsenal are willing to pay, though Arsene Wenger is known to be keen on bringing in young players to the Emirates Stadium.

The French tactician is also known for being careful with money, but he has spent big on young players such as Theo Walcott and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain before, if he sees a player as being a long-term investment with plenty of sell-on potential.

A defender has also been high on Wenger’s priority list this summer, as he looks to replace the out-of-form Thomas Vermaelen, though up until now the club have been linked with more senior players who would command a first-team spot straight away, such as Swansea’s Ashley Williams and Valencia’s Adil Rami.
