Arsenal Ready To Pull Out Of Race to Sign Ashley Williams Deal

Gunners refusing to meet Swansea’s £10 million asking price.

Ashley Williams’ potential move to Arsenal from Swansea is on the verge of collapse according to The Times.

It is being reported that Swansea are demanding a fee of £10 million for the player, which Arsenal are currently refusing to meet.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger is a firm fan of Williams after the Swansea captain put in a number of highly previous performances over the last two Premier League campaigns.

The French boss is keen to shore up his defence after his backline committed a number of individual errors last season that cost the club vital points in the race to secure a Champions League qualification spot.

Arsenal eventually finished 4th by a point by Wenger is keen to make sure the same mistakes are not repeated this season.

But it now appears that Wenger is likely to look elsewhere in his transfer targets as he has baulked at the £10 million asking price.

There is even the potential of Wenger keeping on Belgian defender Thomas Vermaelen, who was blamed for a number of errors last season and was eventually dropped from the team despite being club captain.

Williams is thought to be keen to secure a move to a top club so it remains to be seen how he will react to the news.
