Arsene Wenger Is Still PSG Target Despite Laurent Blanc Appointment

Blanc was named Paris St Germain’s new manager on Tuesday but his job already looks under-threat.

Arsene Wenger remains a target for Paris St Germain even though they have already named Laurent Blanc as their new boss, the Daily Mirror reports.

Blanc was announced as Carlo Ancelotti’s replacement on Tuesday and signed a two year deal with the French Champions, however Arsenal’s Arsene Wenger is still PSG President Nassar-Al-Khelaifi’s main target.

Wenger currently only has one year left on his contract at Arsenal and PSG hope that they can persuade Wenger to take over when his contract runs out with the Gunners.

If Wenger does agree to joining PSG, Blanc will be sacked whether he has had good results or not.

However, Arsenal are planning to offer Wenger another contract and are pretty confident that the Frenchman will decide to stay in North London, even with the advances of big spending PSG.

Much could depends on what happens this summer and how much money Wenger is able to spend on new players.

Reports suggest that the Gunners have a record transfer budget this summer and Wenger has already started spending it, with the signing of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain very close.

If Wenger continues to be able to splash the cash he may well elect to stay at the Emirates.
