Juan Mata Dismisses Chelsea Exit Speculation

The midfielder has reacted with confusion to reports that he is planning on leaving Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea midfielder Juan Mata has said that he is not planning to move away from the club this summer and is confused by the recent reports saying that he is unsettled, Sky Sports reports.

Rumours have suggested that Jose Mourinho is planning to sell Mata this summer and sign a creative midfielder of his own choice, while Barcelona are thought to be readying a £30 million bid for the Spanish international.

However, Mata has said that he is enjoying playing for Chelsea and is looking to forward to meeting new manager Jose Mourinho when he returns from the Confederations Cup.

“I don’t know where that came from,” Mata said when questioned about rumours linking him with a return to Spain.

“The last time I spoke with the club they told me I was a very important player to them and transmitted confidence in me”.

“I’m sure Mourinho will want to see everyone first and then decide what he wants to do”.

Mata joined Chelsea in 2011, signing from Spanish club Valencia and has become one of the Blues most important players in the last two years, winning the clubs player of the year award for last season.

It was thought that Mata would continue to play a big role in Chelsea’s team under Mourinho but recent reports have suggested differently.
