Manchester United To Launch Second Bid For Everton Full-Back Leighton Baines

United’s previous bid of £12 million was rejected by Everton.

Manchester United will not give up on signing Everton left-back Leighton Baines and are set to offer the Toffees an improved offer shortly, the Daily Telegraph reports.

The Reds Devils had a bid of £12 million rejected by Everton earlier today but David Moyes is desperate to sign Baines who was one of his key players while he was manager of Everton.

Baines excelled under Moyes at Everton and it was thought by many that Moyes would make an attempt to bring Baines with him to Old Trafford.

Everton rejected United’s previous bid quickly and said that they will not sell Baines for any price, adding that a bid of £12 million was never likely to be enough for a player who is currently in his prime.

Roberto Martinez is set to return from Brazil where he is working as a television pundit during the Confederations Cup and the Spaniard is determined to keep his squad at Everton intact.

That maybe easier said than done with Maurone Fellaini also set to leave Goodison Park after Arsenal activated the midfielders £22 million buy-out clause.

United are likely to up their bid to around £15 million for Baines but it is unknown whether they will go higher.
