Roma are ready to make a move to bring Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar back to Italy according to Goal.com.

Cesar is currently plying his trade for QPR after joining the club from Inter Milan last summer on a free transfer.

The club subsequently suffered a dismal start to the season that they proved to be incapable of recovering from and are now facing up to the prospect of playing the current season in the Championship.

QPR know they are unlikely to be able to keep Cesar and are in fact quite keen to move him on as they feel they have a ready made replacement in the form of Robert Green.

Cesar is keen to secure a move to a team playing top flight football as he looks to secure his place in the Brazil squad for next summer’s World Cup finals tournament.

Arsenal were rumoured to be interested in Cesar but it now appears that Roma are in pole position to secure his services.

New Roma boss Rudi Garcia has made no secret of his desire to bring in an experienced goalkeeper and that could pave the way for Cesar to make a return to Serie A.

It is thought that QPR would be willing to release Cesar for as little as £1 million in order to get rid of his £80,000 a week wage bill.
