Arsenal fans are becoming anxious at the amount of time it is taking for the club to sign Gonzalo Higuain and many fear that the transfer could have broken down, the Daily Star reports.

Higuain looked set to sign for Arsenal this week with Real Madrid having accepted a £22 million bid from the Gunners.

Arsenal looked like they were close to securing personal terms with Higuain and the players brother even stated that the transfer was nearly complete.

However, Arsenal fans have been taking to Twitter and fans forums to voice their concern about the lack of news surrounding the transfer and fear that the Argentine may not be coming to the Emirates after all.

One Arsenal fan wrote on a fans forum saying, “For a moment there, I thought the world was changing and we were about to sign someone truly exciting, but the gloom is back and it’s comfortable.”

It is thought that Juventus staged a late bid to sign Higuain but their offer was rejected by Real Madrid and they have since signed Carlos Tevez so their is still a good chance that Arsenal will be successful in signing Higuain.

The Gunners are set to make the Argentine their record transfer, with the current highest being Andrey Arshavin, who signed for Arsenal for £15 million.
