Chelsea are reportedly edging closer to completing a deal to sign long term target Edinson Cavani.

Gazzetta dello Sport claim that Chelsea are ready to offer two players as part of a swap deal to land the Napoli striker.

The West London side are reticent to make the required €63m (£53m) bid needed to trigger Cavani’s release clause and are ready instead to make the up the lions share of the cost by offering Fernando Torres and Ramires as part of a combined deal, an offer that apparently appeals to Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Rafa Benitez is said to be keen on reuniting with Spaniard Torres, who has been something of a disappointment since his £50m move to Stamford Bridge.

Jose Mourinho would presumably be less keen on seeing adaptable midfielder Ramires leave Chelsea but could feel that such a sacrifice is needed in order to land 26 year old Serie A hot-shot Cavani.

Edinson Cavani has racked up 104 goals in three seasons at the San Paolo but does seem very likely to leave Naples this summer, with the likes of PSG, Real Madrid and AS Monaco also said to be keen on the former Palermo man.
