Barca star looking forward to Brazilian’s arrival.
Barcelona forward Lionel Messi is looking forward to linking up with Neymar next season despite warnings from Johan Cruyff that his arrival would signal the end of the Argentinian’s time with the club, the Daily Mail reports.
The former Barca player and manager had suggested earlier this week that the four time Balon D’or winner could eventually be on his way out of the club following the Brazilian’s £48 million switch from Santos this summer.
“I wouldn’t have signed Neymar,” Cruyff told Spanish newspaper Marca. “With Neymar on board, I would have planned for the possibility of selling Messi – and some would agree with that, others not.”
“You are talking about a team, its players, the things around it … There are too many things at stake. That’s why it’s so difficult to manage such a top class squad.'”
However, despite what Cruyff warned; Messi has expressed his delight at Neymar’s signing and cannot wait for the new man to link up with the rest of the squad.
“I know Neymar is a great player who is going to bring a lot to Barcelona,’ he said. ‘God willing, we will be able to play together at Barca.”
