Paris Saint Germain are getting ready to step up their interest in Newcastle United midfielder Yohan Cabaye as new manager Laurent Blanc has made him his number one transfer target, according to talkSPORT.

Cabaye – or Yohan Kebab, as he is known by Joe Kinnear, was wanted by previous manager Carlo Ancelotti, but now that he has moved on to Real Madrid the former French national team boss Laurent Blanc is set to attempt to bring him back to his home country.

The Ligue 1 giants already have Marco Verratti and Blaise Matuidi as options in that position, but the new manager thinks Cabaye would provide another dimension of creativity in the centre of the pitch.

The 27-year-old has become one of the most highly regarded midfielders in the Premier League since his 2011 arrival from French side Lille. Newcastle suffered last season as he had endured an injury-affected campaign that saw the club battling against relegation for most of the season without him.

And the Ligue 1 champions PSG hope to tempt him back to his homeland with a big money contract and the promise of Champions League football next term to highlight his talents in the lead up to next summer’s World Cup in Brazil.
