Man United Prepare Move to Sign Trio of Top Talents as David Moyes Looks to Start Summer Spending

Old Trafford side keen to start spending.

Man United boss David Moyes is keen to press on with efforts to bring in his desired summer transfer targets and Italian source CalcioMercato claims that a trio of talents lead his wish-list.

Barcelona midfielder Thiago Alcantara appears to be the most likely to be on his way to Old Trafford with several sources claiming that the 22 year old Spaniard is keen to complete a move to the Premier League title holders.

The Nou Camp side are keen to keep hold of the talented midfielder but the lack of playing time he has received may well cause the youngster to seek a move elsewhere. Thiago Alcantara is available for around £15m, the fee said to be needed to trigger the player’s release clause.

Similarly Man United are ready to trigger Benfica centre-back Ezequiel Garay’s release clause, set at a slightly higher £17m, as David Moyes opts to strengthen a defence that could be weakened by the continued injury concerns over Nemanja Vidic whilst Rio Ferdinand at 34 is clearly not a player Man United can rely on in the long term.

The former Real Madrid defender had an outstanding season in 2012/13 but could not prevent his Lisbon based side losing challenges for a Primeira Liga, Europa League and domestic cup in the final weeks of an incredibly painful season.

Finally Man United have not given up hope of bringing in Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski with Moyes hoping to take advantage of the fact that the Bundesliga side refuses to sell their top striker to domestic rivals Bayern Munich.

This leaves the Polish international in something of a pickle as he has made it clear he wants to leave the Westfalenstadion side but now finds himself in something like a state of limbo.

The Borussia Dortmund man has been in fine form of late, scoring 66 goals over the course of the last two seasons, presumably Moyes would only pursue another high profile striker signing with a view to replacing any potential exit bound member of his current complement of strikers, with perhaps Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez being players who could look to leave the club this summer.
