Borussia Dortmund are lining up a summer bid for Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski according to The Sun.

The 27 year old has been a moderate success since his £11m move to North London though could perhaps be tempted to return to the Bundesliga to join the Champions League finalists.

With Mario Gotze having left to join Bayern Munich in a £31.5m deal and Robert Lewandowski seemingly looking likely to follow suit there is certainly money available to Jurgen Klopp as he looks to rebuild a squad that could lose some of it’s top talents.

Podolski set a new Premier League record for the highest number of occasions a player has been subbed but still managed to net 16 goals in all competitions as well as provide 11 vital assists. However Arsene Wenger could perhaps have expected more from the experienced German given the length of time he tracked the former Koln attacker.

Given that Arsenal are falling further behind the genuine Premier League title front-runners and have now gone eight seasons without securing any silverware it is perhaps possible that Podolski would feel a move to the Westfalenstadion could be a step up though a major offer would have to be made in order for Wenger to even consider such a sale.
