Yossi Benayoun has set his sights on a Stateside move following the completion of his Chelsea contract next month, bringing to an end an eight year spell in England.

Sky Sports reports that the former West Ham, Liverpool and Arsenal midfielder is open to a move to the MLS though the Israeli has also spoken of interest from Europe.

“I finish my contract on 30th June. At the moment I’m in talks with several European teams.

“I’m checking my options but, to tell you the truth, America is one of my favourite options.

“I’m trying to do everything I can to come to America and play in the MLS, and hopefully it works out in the next few weeks.”

Benayoun’s agent has revealed that the New York Red Bulls had looked to sign Benayoun last summer but that a deal could be resurrected.

The attacking midfielder has struggled for form at Chelsea and failed to secure a single Premier League start last season and a move to the MLS could help re-ignite his career.

Prior to his move to Stamford Bridge Benayoun enjoyed two seasons with West Ham followed by a three year stint at Liverpool before moving to Chelsea in a £5.5m deal in July 2010.
