Selhurst Park ready to meet Anfield valuation.

Crystal Palace appear to be leading the chase for Liverpool’s exit bound midfielder Jonjo Shelvey according to the Daily Mirror.

Eagles boss Ian Holloway hopes to be given the nod by Anfield boss Brendan Rodgers to enter into talks with the 21 year old England international with Swansea City apparently reticent about meeting Liverpool’s valuation.

Holloway knows Shelvey well from a loan spell the attacking midfielder spent at Blackpool back in 2011 and a move back to London for the former Charlton Athletic man may tempt the Liverpool bit-part player.

Shelvey managed just nine Premier League starts in 2012/13 and may feel it’s time to consider a move away from the Merseyside club he joined back in May 2010.

Ian Holloway knows he needs to strengthen his Selhurst Park squad if he is to keep his South London side in the top tier and a move to bring in Shelvey could be a very wise, and cost effective, one to consider.

Shelvey has made a total of 69 appearances for Liverpool of which 38 were from the bench, netting a total of seven goals for the Anfield side in the process.
