Brazilian club insist they have received no offers for striker.
Brazilian club Internacional have moved to deny speculation linking their striker Leandro Damiao with a move to Southampton according to The Metro.
Reports in recent days had suggested that the Saints were ready to make an audacious bid for the Brazilian forward. But it now appears that Tottenham remain the front-runners for his signature after Damiao’s club insisted they are yet to receive any offers for the player.
Tottenham are known to be long-term admirers of Damiao and have come close to sealing his signature on a number of occasions.
He was reportedly close to arriving at White Hart Lane during the previous January transfer window only for the two clubs to fail to agree a fee.
Tottenham boss Andre Vilas-Boas has made bringing in attacking reinforcements one of his top summer priorities and is reportedly ready to return for the player’s signature.
It was being suggested that Southampton were hoping to pull off something of a coup by getting in an early bid for the player but it now appears that there continues to have been no concrete offers for the striker.
Should Tottenham fail to land the Brazilian forward, a number of top sides are set to compete with Southampton for his signature including Fiorentina and Galatasaray.
