The Italian striker thinks that Mario Gomez is one of the best strikers in the world at the moment.
Luca Toni thinks that Fiorentina should pull out all the stops to sign Bayern Munich front-man Mario Gomez, claiming that the German is one of the best strikers in the world, Goal.com reports.
Gomez is set to leave Bayern Munich this summer following a season of mostly sitting on the bench as he has fallen behind Mario Mandzukic at the German Champions.
Recent reports have suggested that Gomez could be on his way to Fiorentina, possibly as a replacement for Stevan Jovetic, who seems certain to leave Florence this summer.
Toni believes that Gomez could be prolific for La Viola and could be the player that would take the club to the next level.
“We are talking about a fantastic player,” he told Lady Radio. “We must see how he will adapt to Italian football, but he is a top player. I don’t know if they could challenge for the Scudetto [with him] but they would have one of the best strikers in the world.”
Toni also believes that the club should try and do everything to keep midfielder David Pizarro at the club as he feels that with Gomez and Pizarro at Fiorentina, the club can push for Champions League qualification next season.
