Chelsea have made a move for Vitesse Arnhem midfielder Marco Van Ginkel, with the 20 year old having a discussion with the Blues over a move to Stamford Bridge, BBC Sport reports.

Van Ginkel has reportedly met with Blues boss Jose Mourinho and will head back to the Dutch club on Thursday.

The midfielders main concerns about a move to Chelsea would be how much first team football he gets, with the Blues currently having many players who can play in central midfield.

Van Ginkel wants to be a part of Holland’s squad for next summers World Cup and the Dutch national coach Louis Van Gaal has warned the midfielder that he won’t be picked if he is not playing.

Chelsea are reportedly ready to pay £9 million for the 20 year old and will see him as a player who can develop at the club under the guidance of Mourinho.

Manchester United and Ajax are both thought to be interested in Van Ginkel but Chelsea are currently front-runners for the Dutchman, with Ajax’s director of football Marc Overmars recently saying that Ajax will probably not sign Van Ginkel because they can’t compete financially with clubs from the Premier League.
