As former Toffees boss David Moyes hovers around Goodison Park in pursuit of full-back Leighton Baines it appears that current Everton manager Roberto Martinez is set to conduct his own raid of his previous employers with the Spaniard closing in on a pair of Latics talents according to the BBC.

Martinez is set to welcome Ivory Coast international Arouna Kone to his new Merseyside club and will also bring in out of contract defender Antolin Alcaraz from the DW Stadium, to become the former Wigan Athletic manager’s first signings since taking over at Everton.

Former Levante man Kone had an excellent season last term, scoring 13 goals in all competitions, but reports that the 29 year old was looking for an instant return to the Premier League have clearly left chairman Dave Whelan vulnerable to offers for the striker.

Wigan boss Owen Coyle has admitted that Kone expressed a desire to reunite with Martinez and a move to Everton is on the cards.

30 year old Alcaraz has made 75 appearances for Wigan Athletic since joining the club from Club Brugge three years ago.
