The defender was close to joining Barcelona last summer but moved to Paris St Germain instead.
Paris St Germain defender Thiago Silva has claimed that Barcelona manager Tito Vilanova tried to persuade him to join the Spanish Champions, Sports Direct News reports.
Silva claims that he was approached by Vilanova during one of the legs of the Champions League quarter finals between Barcelona and PSG.
The 28-year-old to Sportyou: “Tito is a guy I admire.
“After the match between PSG and Barcelona in the Champions League I had a chat with him and he invited me to come play for Barcelona”.
Silva has been linked with Barcelona before and was close to joining the Spanish giants last summer but opted instead for a move to PSG, where he won the Ligue 1 title last season.
However, speculation has again been mounting that Silva could move to Barcelona this summer following the departure of manager Carlo Ancelotti from PSG to Real Madrid.
Ancelotti was one of the main reasons why Silva decided to move to Paris over Barcelona and is said to be upset that the Italian has left, leading to the possibility that he could end up at the Nou Camp after all.
Barcelona have said that they would be interested in Silva but the Brazilian will need to lower his wage demands before a deal could go through.
