Tottenham boss Andre Villas-Boas has got the ball rolling on what is set to be a massive squad overhaul according to the London Evening Standard.

With Brazilian midfielder Paulinho set to complete a club record £17m move to White Hart Lane Andre Villas-Boas is looking likely to follow up the addition of the Corinthians midfielder with three other additions, which will be partly funding by a significant squad cull.

Barcelona striker David Villa is set to move to the North London club having ‘virtually’ agreed personal terms with Tottenham ahead of a £8.6m move to the Premier League side.

The 31 year old is keen to garner regular first team football having become something of a bit-part player at the Nou Camp, no doubt mindful that warming the bench less than a year before the 2014 World Cup Finals could harm his chances of a prominent role in Vicente del Bosque’s Spanish national team set-up.

This source also believes that Villas-Boas has won the race to win £17m Croatian pair Alen Halilovic and Tin Jedvaj, with the Tottenham boss clearly looking towards the long term future of his squad.

The teenage pair will arrive at White Hart Lane when they turn 18 years of age, centre-back Jedvaj penciled in to arrive at White Hart Lane in January and playmaker Halilovic moving a year from now.

17 year old pint sized attacking midfielder Halilovic is dubbed the ‘Next Luka Modric’ and already has a full Croatian national team cap to his name and has been blooded at Champions League level, completing a total of 21 appearances for Dinamo Zagreb last term.

Jedvag is an uncompromising defender who is mature beyond his years and has been strongly linked with a number of Premier League sides since breaking onto the senior football scene early this year.

The outlay to bring in this quartet will cost in excess of £40m in transfer fees alone and White Hart Lane chairman Daniel Levy will insist that Villas-Boas streamlines his playing staff so as to help cover some of the costs.

Tottenham are in talks with Sunderland over the likely sale of midfielder Tom Huddlestone and experienced Premier League stars Scott Parker, Emmanuel Adebayor, Benoit Assou-Ekotto, Jermain Defoe, Heurelho Gomes and Clint Dempsey are also available should acceptable offers for their services become known whilst midfielder Jake Livermore will be loaned out next term.
