Arsenal and Chelsea are making enquiries with regards to the availability of Manchester United’s Wayne Rooney and Liverpool’s Luis Suarez according to The Mirror.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is keen to bring in attacking reinforcements this summer after failing to properly replace Robin Van Persie since his departure for Manchester United last year.

He will be given significant backing by the Gunners’ board in pursuit of their goal as the club have now paid off a large amount of the loan they took out to build the Emirates Stadium.

Wenger is hoping that either Rooney or Suarez will pair up with the soon-to-be-signed Real Madrid star Gonzalo Higuain to form a partnership that will re-establish Arsenal amongst the dominant forces in Premier League football.

Chelsea are hoping to bring in a couple of forwards as Jose Mourinho looks to make his mark on the team. The Portuguese boss has deemed Fernando Torres and Demba Ba not to be good enough, though Belgian youngster Romelu Lukaku will be given a chance to prove himself.

Mourinho is a long-term admirer of Rooney and believes his work rate would be an invaluable asset to the front-line. The club have also been strongly linked with Suarez, who looks set to leave Anfield this summer after publicly declaring his dissatisfaction at Liverpool on a number of occasions over the last few weeks.
