Liverpool have launched a €9m (£7.7m) bid for Verona youngster Jorginho according to Italian source TuttoMercato.

The 21 year old played a prominent role in helping his side to secure promotion to Serie A, playing in 40 of the club’s 42 matches.

The adaptable youngster can play as a deep lying midfielder but is also adept at playing out wide and it’s believed that the flair player could well be on his way out at Verona with AC Milan also said to be keen on Jorginho.

Brendan Rodgers has made some very wise acquisitions thus far this summer, meaning that the capture of Kolo Toure, Simon Mignolet, Iago Aspas and Luis Alberto were in the most part covered financially by the sales of Andy Carroll and Jonjo Shelvey to West Ham and Swansea City respectively.

With a move to bring in Shakhtar Donestk playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan seemingly derailing Rodgers is clearly still keen to add more creativity to his midfield and may feel that a move to continue Liverpool’s youthful transfer policy would be wiser than a big money move for the Armenian international.
