Real Madrid sources have said that Gonzalo Higuain’s future at the club is still undecided despite a move to Arsenal thought to be very close, the Sun reports.

Speculation had increased that the strikers move to Arsenal was virtually a done deal, with the Gunners paying Madrid a club record £23 million for the Argentine.

However, Madrid have said that they aren’t pushing Higuain out of the door and with the striker still having three years left to run on his current contract, their is still a chance that he could stay at the Bernabeu.

New Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti believes that there is a place for Higuain in his team at the Bernabeu and is believed to be eager to keep the Argentine at the club.

However, if the striker does say that he wants to leave, he will be able to.

After Madrid’s last league game of the season, Higuain told the media that he planned to move away from the club this summer and Arsenal have been front runners for his signature ever since Juventus backed out of a possible move for the striker.

Arsenal will be desperate to complete a move for Higuain, with Arsene Wenger wanting to sign a quality striker this summer.
