Florentino Perez has confirmed that Real Madrid haven’t made an approach for Tottenham winger Gareth Bale, Sky Sports reports.

The Welsh winger has been repeatedly linked with a move to Madrid and Perez has hinted recently that the club would like to bring the player to the Bernabeu.

However, the Madrid president has said that although he is an admirer of Bale, the club haven’t made a formal approach for the player.

“He is a great player who belongs to a club we enjoy good relations with, but we have not made any offer,” Perez said during an interview with Univision.

Tottenham are desperate to keep their star player at the club next season and reports suggest that Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is preparing to offer the winger a new contract to stay with the North London club.

Bale was fantastic for Spurs last season, scoring 23 goals with many fantastic strikes but despite Bale’s performances, Spurs failed to finish in the Premier League’s top four meaning they did not qualify for the Champions League.

Reports suggest that Bale is desperate to play in Europe’s top competition and Spurs not qualifying has led to speculation that he may move away from White Hart Lane.
