Arsenal are preparing to bid £35 million for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez after struggling to agree a fee with Real Madrid for Gonzalo Higuain, Goal.com reports.

Reports have suggested that the Gunners have already bid £30 million for the Uruguay international but will now up their bid to £35 million after Liverpool rejected their previous offer.

The Gunners main transfer target this summer has been Gonzalo Higuain but talks have stalled with Real Madrid over the Argentine’s asking price and Arsene Wenger has now switched his focus to Liverpool’s want away striker.

Suarez has revealed that he wants to leave Liverpool for a club playing in the Champions League and said that he is flattered to be linked with Arsenal.

However, the Uruguay internationals preferred destination is thought to be Real Madrid and the striker has spent most of the off-season flirting with the Spanish giants through the media.

Liverpool want to hold onto Suarez this summer but that is looking increasingly less likely although they have said that they won’t sell the striker for less than £40 million.

Chelsea are also understood to be considering a move to Suarez.
