Aston Villa striker Christian Benteke is hopeful of securing a move to Tottenham according to The Daily Mail.

The Belgian youngster recently incensed Villa officials by handing in a transfer request. Villa boss Paul Lambert had hoped to build a team around the powerful striker but that now appears unlikely after Benteke made official his desire to leave the club.

The youngster has no shortage of suitors after a highly impressive debut season in the Premier League.

Chelsea are known to be ready to make an approach for the player, for whom Villa are ready to demand a fee in the region of £25 million.

The Stamford Bridge side have already missed out on Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani to Monaco and PSG respectively this summer and are desperate to bring in attacking reinforcements before the start of the season.

They could find themselves scuppered once again though with Benteke reportedly favouring a move to White Hart Lane.

But Tottenham are reportedly keen to secure a deal involving a player exchange while Chelsea are ready to pay up the full amount in cash.

That could cause tensions between Villa and Benteke, with his club keen to secure the money while the player would prefer to join up Andre Vilas-Boas’ men.
