Stamford Bridge side battle PSG for Lazio midfielder.
Chelsea have made a move to sign reported Paris Saint-Germain target Hernanes from Lazio, report Italian source Il Tempo.
The Blues want to add yet another Brazilian to their ranks this summer in the form of Hernanes, with the likes of David Luiz, Oscar and Ramires already recognised members of the full team set up, and a bid for midfielder Hernanes is said to be imminent, for an estimate fee of £15million.
The 28-year old midfielder has spent the last few seasons in Serie A with Lazio, but is interested in a new challenge, with PSG also said to be interested. Hernanes was recently quoted as saying “I want to play in a team of value, which can compete for each goal” illustrating the fact he is keen on a transfer this summer.
Chelsea could be required to add to their already bulky midfield this summer, following the signing or Marco van Ginkel from Ditch side Vitesse Arnhem. Midfield enforcer Mikel has been linked with a £12million move to Turkey with Galatasaray interested in him, and Oriel Romeu is set for a loan spell in Spain, with Valencia keen on acquiring the former Barcelona youngster.
Jose Mourinho has admitted he is interested in signing Hernanes this summer. “A negotiation for Hernanes is inviting,” he was quoted as saying earlier in the week. “But I do not want to say too much, or say that anything is close. We have other priorities at the moment including a defender and a striker.”
