Giovani dos Santos has turned down the option of signing for MLS champions, LA Galaxy, to sign for Villarreal, after a fee in the region of £7million was agreed by both clubs according to Spanish source Sport.es.

The Mexican spent last season in Spain, but with Mallorca, managing 29 appearances as he tried to keep his side up. Sadly, his side were not good enough and Mallorca were consequently relegated to the second tier of football.

Dos Santos opted to leave the Adelante side for Liga BBVA side Villarreal, despite interest from American side LA Galaxy who could not convince the 24 year-old that moving to the MLS would be a good move for him and his playing career.

Former Tottenham winger will now sign a four year deal with the club, confirmed by club president, Castellon Fernando Roig.

“Now that I’m here with Tomas Pina I will take to announce that this season will play alongside Giovani dos Santos. Currently I can confirm that the Giovani signed with Villarreal for the next four seasons,” said Fernando Roig.

Spanish side Villarreal will now look to announce the signing of Dos Santos this week, after he has completed his medical.

The Spanish side have been strongly linked with a move for Elche forward Manu del Moral for a fee of £3million after a fairly successful season. The 29 year-old has only one year left on his current contract at the club so Villarreal may be able to seal a cut price deal for the Spaniard.
