Torino defender Angelo Ogbonna is set to undergo a medical with Serie A champions Juventus this week with a view of completing a cross city move, Sky Sports reports.

The 25-year-old has been on the Bianconeri’s wish list for a long time now, and despite Juve director general Giuseppe Marotta claiming that talks had come close to breaking down recently, he now appears close to completing a reported €10 million transfer.

A statement published on Juve’s official website read: “The 25-year-old defender is visiting Turin’s Fornaca clinic and Medicina dello Sport center ahead of a proposed move to the Bianconeri.”

Ogbonna has developed into one of the finest centre backs in Europe over recent seasons and has also been courted by the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool as he has helped establish Torino from the ashes of Serie B back into the top fight.

He began his career with I Granata back in 2006, and despite a season long loan with Crotone a year later he has gone on to make over 150 appearances for the club, scoring just one goal.

He has also began to start being involved with the national team more, earning six caps caps since the summer of 2009. He was a part of the squad for Euro 2012 but didn’t make a single appearance.
