Edinson Cavani is thought to be close to completing his move to Ligue 1 champions PSG according to The Independent.
Cavani is currently one of the hottest properties in football following another highly impressive season for Napoli.
Cavani’s goals fired Napoli into a second-place finish in Serie A while securing him the league’s top goalscorer award.
That paved the way for a summer battle for his signature with the games top clubs vying to secure his services.
Cavani was strongly linked with a host of top sides, including Chelsea, Manchester City and Real Madrid, although none of those clubs were reportedly ready to meet Napoli’s valuation of the player.
Napoli President Aurelio Di Laurentiis remained resolute in his determination not to accept a penny less than Cavani’s £54 million minimum fee release clause and he appears to have got his wish following the intervention of wealthy French side PSG.
Cavani is rumoured to have accepted a pay deal which will see him net an astonishing £8.5 million per season for the next four years. He is set to form a mouth-watering partnership with Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
PSG may well consider the money worth it though if Cavani can help establish PSG amongst the dominant forces in French and European football.
