Man City are lining up a bid for unhappy PSG forward Zlatan Ibrahimovic according to the Daily Mirror.

Newly appointed Etihad Stadium boss Manuel Pellegrini is keen on signing the experienced forward, who is said to have been angered by his side’s push to sign Napoli ace Edinson Cavani.

The Swede has courted a move to reunite with former Parc des Princes boss Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid but is unable to do so due to a stipulation in the Italian’s Bernabeu contract that prevents him raiding his former Ligue 1 employers.

This could well leave the door open for other prospective suitors and with Ibrahimovic being available for just £17m it seems that’s a price the big spending Premier League side can’t afford to ignore.

Man City are willing to cover the former Ajax, Juventus, Inter Milan, Barcelona and AC Milan player’s £250k a week wage demands and given that Carlos Tevez has left the club there is certainly space for Ibrahimovic in Pellegrini’s attack, not least because Mario Balotelli left in January and has not been replaced.

The 31 year old was PSG’s key performer last term, scoring 30 goals in Ligue 1, 11 more than his nearest rival in the Ligue 1 top-scorers chart and helped his side to their first domestic title in almost two decades.

The powerful marksman has scored 92 goals in his past three seasons.
