Earlier this week the powerful Brazilian admitted that he had been contacted by the west London side over a possible move to the Premier League.
Chelsea are believed to have offered £35 million for the 26-year-old, but Zenit St Petersburg are thought to want a number closer to that of the £50 million they paid for him last year.
However, he is known to be unhappy in Russia and would jump at the chance to head elsewhere. “If I said there was not anything in it, I would be lying,” he claimed.
His teammates are angry over the sky high wages he receives, bombs have turned up for him in the post and furthermore, his poor form in front of goal hasn’t helped matters either, managing just 11 goals in 30 appearances.
Chelsea are known to be looking for a target man after the signing of Demba Ba has so far failed to work out the way many had hoped it would, and though Hulk would come at a considerable cost, a happy player with a coach like Mourinho behind him would surely produce a winning outcome.
“Zenit is a great club, but if I do go I want to move to a better place, with a better team in a better competition,” he said.
