Toby Alderweireld- Ajax to Liverpool
The centre back is another Ajax player who could be leaving the club for Liverpool this summer. Like Christen Eriksen, Alderweireld only has one year remaining on his current contract at Ajax and is very unlikely to extend that deal so a move away from the club this summer is very likely. Reports suggested that Norwich had agreed a deal with Ajax to sign Alderweireld but the Canaries couldn’t agree personal terms with the defender, with many suggesting that it was Norwich’s lowly standing within the game that prevented a move.
It now seems that Liverpool will move into pole position to sign the defender, with Alderweireld being a lot more keen on a move to Liverpool. Reports have suggested that Liverpool will offer Ajax a combined £22 million for both Eriksen and Alderweireld, a lot of money considering that both players are out of contract next summer. Signing the pair will certainly strengthen Liverpool next season as Brendan Rodgers tries to assemble a squad that will challenge for a top four place in the Premier League next season.
