Check in to Transfer Window: Done Deal Alerts

Newcastle United are set to finally start their summer spending after a slow start, thanks to Joe Kinnear’s return from his pre-booked holiday according to the Daily Mail.

The club from Tyneside are the only team to have failed to sign a senior play yet this window, despite having every player in Europe linked with them in recent weeks.

Joe Kinnear and Alan Pardew are to meet up today to finalise their list of transfer targets before they get the green light from Newcastle chairman, Mike Ashley, to spend his money.

It is believed that the pair are both agreed on Aston Villa striker Darren Bent, and a deal for the former England international should be agreed by the end of the week as Ashley seems willing to meet the £6million asking price for the 29 year-old.

Queens Park Rangers wantaway striker Loic Remy is another name to be thrown into discussions by the duo, as Magpies boss, Pardew, has already expressed his desire to sign two first team strikers this summer – instead of the widely reported one. The French striker snubbed the Premier League club in January, but following his relegation with QPR, it seems the 26 year-old desperately wishes to wrap up a move to St James’ Park.

Mirror reporter Alan Nixon claimed that Newcastle were to offer £6million plus Steven Taylor for the QPR forward, but these rumours have been rubbished by sources close to the club as Taylor is part of Pardew’s plans for next season.

Other targets, such as Porto defender Rolando, will be discussed this week too. Despite reports claiming Kinnear has already held talks with the Portuguese central defender, who is wanted by Everton.
