Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has an interest in out of sorts Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri, but no official bid for the starlet has been submitted according to the Daily Express.

57 year-old, Bayern Munich chief executive, Karl Heinz Rummenigge has told reporters that they have not yet received an offer from any club for Xherdan.

“Nobody has called about Shaqiri. Right now there are no plans [to sell him]. The coach is completely satisfied with him” Karl claimed.

He added: “I think he will go into the season with the current squad,” but he did not rule out a loan move for the Swiss international.

The 21 year-old did manage to play 26 games for the German champions last year, but German international Manuel Neuer almost doubled that with 49 appearances – in all competitions.

If Liverpool fail to land the Swiss international then they are likely to turn their attentions to Alessandro Matri, especially with want away striker Luis Suarez likely to leave the Merseyside club in the coming weeks.

“Liverpool want Alessandro Matri, and plan to buy him with the money made from the sale of Luis Suarez,” claim ‘Sport Media Set’.

“The British club have sent scouts to produce a report on Matri, and he will not leave for less than €13million.”

Sky Italia later reported that Liverpool had infact submitted an enquiry for the Italian striker, whom has recently returned to pre-season training with Juve. Last season, Matri managed 10 goals from his 33 league appearances, with only two assists.
