Arsenal have claimed that rumours surrounding a move to Atletico Madrid for Santi Cazorla are false, with the club stating that the player is not for sale, the Daily Star reports.

Speculation has mounted over the past few days about Cazorla’s future at the Emirates, with reports in Spain stating that the play-maker had flown to Madrid last night to begin the process of moving to Atletico.

However, Arsenal have moved to quash those rumours and are desperate to keep hold of one their star players, who made 45 appearances for the Gunners last season and became a fan favourite.

Cazorla had recently said that he wants to stay at Emirates and hopes that he can help the club to win the Premier League title next season.

Arsenal reportedly have their biggest ever transfer budget to spend on players this summer but manager Arsene Wenger’s attempts to revamp his squad are hitting problems.

One of the Gunners main transfer targets, Gonzalo Higuain, is reportedly in talks with Napoli about moving to the Italian club while Liverpool have rejected a £35 million from the Gunners for want away striker Luis Suarez.
