Arsenal are in pole position to sign Liverpool’s want away striker Luis Suarez with their main rivals, Real Madrid only willing to pay £25 million for the Uruguay international, the Daily Mirror reports.
The Gunners have already had a £30 million plus add on bid rejected by Liverpool but manager Arsene Wenger is ready to go back to Anfield with an improved offer after Suarez’s representatives insisted that the Reds will have to sell if a £40 million bid is received.
Liverpool are desperate to hang onto their star player and have told Arsenal that the striker isn’t for sale but Suarez clearly wants to move away from Anfield and has stated his desire to play in the Champions League.
Suarez is now Arsenal’s main transfer target this summer, although the Gunners are still monitoring the situations involving Wayne Rooney and Gonzalo Higuain.
Although Real Madrid is thought to be Suarez preferred destination, the Spanish giants will not pay more than £25 million for the striker, effectively ruling them out of the race for the Uruguayan.
Suarez is thought to be interested in a move to the Emirates and recently said that he is flattered to be linked with Arsenal.
