Liverpool have ended their negotiations with Porto over 21 year-old winger Christian Atsu, due to a disagreement with the transfer fee according to talkSPORT.

The Premier League side were adamant that £3.4million was enough for the winger, and refused to raise their offer despite the Reds boss Brendan Rodgers being frustrated by the way the pursuit had gone.

Rodgers felt the Merseyside club should have been more willing in the negotiations to offer more, although Porto’s asking price has not been released – that could have been the actual stumbling block.

Since they will not be bringing the former Rio Ave loanee to Anfield this summer, Reds boss now has to decided whether he will go after another winger, or just make do with Raheem Sterling and Jordan Ibe – not to forget Suso and Assaidi. Even Sturridge, Aspas and Alberto can play on the wing if need be.

Atsu will not be joining up with the new arrivals upon Merseyside, instead it seems the Ghanian winger will stay at the Estadio do Dragao for the coming season.

Liverpool will now need to turn their attention to their own player, Luis Suarez, as the Uruguay international looks set to leave the club. With offers from Arsenal and Chelsea reportedly being tabled, Ian Ayre does not wish for the player to leave, despite the larger offers up to £40million coming in for the striker.

Ayre values Suarez higher than Fernando Torres – whom he famously sold to London side Chelsea for a staggering £50million.
