Paris St Germain’s president Nassar Al-Khelaifi has threatened to make an attempt to sign Lionel Messi if Barcelona choose to activate Thiago Silva’s buy-out clause this summer, Sky Sports reports.

Al-Khelaifi is angry that Silva is continuously linked with Barcelona after the Catalan clubs president, Sandro Rosell revealed publicly last week that the Spanish Champions want to sign the Brazilian defender.

If Barcelona do try and activate Silva’s buy out clause then Al-Khelaifi will make a world record attempt to sign Lionel Messi.

“If Barca pay the buy-out clause of Thiago Silva then I will meet Messi’s buy-out clause,” he is quoted as telling ActuSports.fr.

Silva was close to joining Barcelona last summer but the Brazilian defender choose instead to join PSG, however one of the main reasons for Silva moving to Paris was that Carlo Ancelotti was at the club.

Since Ancelotti moved to Real Madrid, reports have suggested that Silva is unhappy at the French Champions and is considering moving to Catalonia.

Should Barcelona attempt to sign Silva, PSG will use the financial backing from their Qatri owners to launch a bid that will activate Messi’s 250 million euro buy out clause and will offer the Argentine forward a huge contract that could persuade him to leave Barcelona.
