Arsenal look set to step up their interest in Bayern Munich midfielder Luis Gustavo, with the player set to be available for around £15 million, the Daily Mirror reports.

Bayern Munich will listen to offers for Gustavo following the signing of Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona.

Arsene Wenger wants to bolster his midfield this summer and feels that Gustavo is exactly the type of player that he is looking for.

However, Arsenal will face competition from German side Wolfsburg, who admitted their interest in the midfielder a few days ago.

While Gustavo’s main position is as a defensive midfielder, he can also cover at centre back, something that will interest Wenger as Arsenal will be without Thomas Vermaelen for the start of next season.

Arsenal are also interested in signing Marouane Fellaini from Everton, with the player being available for £23.5 million until August 14th, when the buy-out clause in his contract expires.

However, Gustavo appears to be a good alternative for Wenger, especially as the player will be a good £8.5 million cheaper than Fellaini.

The Brazilian could be very open to a move to Arsenal as he will get plenty of first team opportunities, something he is unlikely to get at Bayern.
