Ian Hollway is hoping to complete the signing of Carlton Cole on Monday as he steps up his bid to strengthen Crystal Palace’s attack before the start of the Premier League season, the Daily Mirror reports.

Cole is currently a free agent having left West Ham at the end of last season and despite previous talks with Palace stalling, the striker is now believed to want to move to Selhurst Park.

Palace have been in talks with Cole since the end of the season but were unable to finalise terms with the striker, who also had a look at other options.

However, Cole will sort out a contract with Palace fast as he is believed to want to stay in London and Holloway will finally sign a striker with Premier League experience, having spent most of the summer looking.

The club are also interested in signing West Brom’s want away front-man Peter Odemwingie but the Baggies are thought to be demanding around £3 million for the striker, an amount the London club are unwilling to pay.

Palace are hoping that they can sign Odemwingie for around £1.75 million and are confident that they can get West Brom’s valuation down as the Baggies do want to sell the striker in order to trim their wage bill.
