Liverpool’s Luis Suarez joined up with his team-mates on their tour of Australia with his future very much hanging in the balance according to The Daily Express.
Suarez has been the subject of constant speculation in recent months after publically declaring his desire to leave Anfield.
The Uruguayan star initially claimed he wished to move away from the Premier League as he felt hounded by the English press but he subsequently raised some eyebrows after claiming he would consider joining Arsenal on account of their ability to offer him Champions League football.
Suarez had declared that his preferred destination was Real Madrid but the Spanish giants are yet to make any kind of official contact and it seems that North London is likely to be his destination.
Liverpool are determined to hang on to Suarez but could be powerless to prevent his departure should a reported £40 million transfer fee release clause be activated.
If Arsenal, or any other club, activate the clause, the player is free to discuss terms with their representatives.
That would be likely to incur the wrath of Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, who feels Suarez owes the club a debt of gratitude for sticking with him throughout his history of misdemeanours since joining the club.
