Real Madrid are readying a bumper record breaking bid for Tottenham attacker Gareth Bale according to the Daily Star.
The Spanish giants are ready to stump up a mammoth £85m for the 24 year old Welsh international, the type of bid that would surely be very hard for the White Hart Lane side to ignore.
Andre Villas-Boas would be loathed to lose his key performer but the financial realities of such an offer are hard to ignore, £85m could fund moves for three or four top level signings which in overall terms could improve the North London club’s squad overall and help in their pursuit of a coveted Champions League berth.
Man United are also said to be interested in Bale, who scored 26 goals in all competitions last term, but the figure linked with the Old Trafford side is a more modest £60m, one would imagine that such an offer also be tough to turn down and a lot could depend on the player himself.
Though Bale is committed to Tottenham and appears to be very happy to remain at the club knowing that a side like Real Madrid are willing to invest such a huge sum in your services could perhaps turn the former Southampton man’s head.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez saw his side surrender the La Liga title last season and also watched as Barcelona won the race to sign highly rated Brazilian Neymar and though the Bernabeu side have also spent heavily, bringing in impressive youngsters like Isco and Asier Illarramendi, capturing Bale would be a massive statement of intent.
