Bluebirds want former Arsenal target.
Premier League new boys Cardiff City are setting their sights on former Arsenal and Everton target Etienne Capoue, according to the Daily Mail.
Manager Malky Mackay has not been as successful as he would have hoped for so far during the transfer window, having only added young Danish striker Andreas Cornelius to his ranks ahead of their debut in the top flight.
The former Watford boss had been in the running for Celtic’s Victor Wanyama, but saw him slip through his grasp and join Southampton instead. However, he has vowed to continue to press ahead with his attempts at bringing new faces to the squad.
And his first choice now is believed to be highly rated Toulouse midfielder Etienne Capoue and he will sanction a move with the board before trying to convince the 25-year-old French international to join the club this summer.
Capoue had at one point last season been a target for Arsenal, Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, but more pressing matters elsewhere have forced those particular clubs to look at strengthening other areas of the squad, leaving Capoue behind.
He had made his desire to leave public knowledge last term, but as of yet there have been no bids for him.
